New Things

Updated: Jun 21, 2023

Footprints at the beach.

When we try to undertake new things; new projects, new relationships, new businesses, etc.; fear and doubt can try to take control of us. This seems to have been the situation Joshua faced when he found himself responsible for leading God's people to Canaan. In the Bible, God clearly reminds us not to fear. In the same way, God instructed Joshua not to fear before the task entrusted. Let's see below:

Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””

- It takes effort and courage

- We must not fear or faint in the face of the circumstances we face.

- God has promised to be with us wherever we go

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God only desires good for His children. His plan is one of good and not evil. His thoughts are not our thoughts.

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV)

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way.”

God is the one who orders our steps, and He determines if it is the right path for us.

Revelation 3:7-8 (NKJV)

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.

God opens the doors on our behalf. He knows when we feel overwhelmed and without strength to keep going and encourages us to keep going. He wants to use us as a useful instrument in His hands.

Let us place our plans in the hands of the One who holds everything in His hands. He knows what's best for us. He wants to open doors in our favor for the good of His gospel and for lives to come to him. Fear not! God is with you.
