Often, when I am going through difficult times, the Lord instructs me to sing to Him. When I do, a peace I can't explain floods my being and I feel my spirit connect with heaven and I receive relief from the Lord.
Every day we must express a song for the goodness of God. Why?
1. Singing helps our mood. When we go through trying times, we can find relief when we sing. The soul expresses in words what the heart feels. Likewise, when we are happy, we sing to express our joy.
James 5:13 NKJV tells us: Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
Read the Psalms for inspiration – it is considered the book of songs of the Bible.
2. Singing frees us and brings about God's miracles in our lives.
Acts 16:25 NKJV – But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
3. Singing allows us to recognize the greatness of God in our lives and in gratitude, we praise Him.
Exodus 15:1-2 NKJV – Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: “I will sing to the Lord, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea! The Lord is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.
4. Singing leads us to celebrate Christ's coming into the world.
Luke 2:13-14 NKJV – And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
5. Singing leads us to thank God for the fulfillment of His purpose in our lives.
Luke 1:45-47 NKJV – Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.”
No matter what we are going through, praise should not lack in our lives. At all times we can worship God with our heart, knowing that He is glad to hear our praise and blesses us with His presence. What are you waiting for? Come, let us praise him right now!
